Sydney International Boat Show update |
The Boating Industry Association of NSW, organisers of the Sydney International Boat Show have described this year's event as one of the most challenging, yet most successful. After the show was hampered by poor weather in the early days, final visitor numbers were only down marginally on the previous year. 84,662 people visited the vast exhibitions halls covering 28,000 M2 as well has the specially built marina that hosted over 300 new vessels. The attendance was 5.4% down on the previous years attendance of 89,451. Roy Privett, General Manager of the Association said, 'Considering the poor weather, especially on the Friday, our visitor numbers were more than acceptable. Whilst many eagerly await this information each year, we more so are focused on ensuring a quality audience fulfil their recreational boating needs'. Early indications are that exhibitors across all segments of the market had a very positive show. Privett said: 'Exhibitors reaction to the rain was in no way negative. Whilst it caused some discomfort in the first few days on the marina, many exhibitors commented that those that braved the poor weather were there with a purpose' The Association will almost immediately start planning the 2007 event, which will be the 40th Sydney International Boat Show. The 2007 event will run from August 2 to 7.
