At the RSYS Etchells regatta this weekend Matt Whitnall and his team, on board Umami, dominated the racing with two wins and a third showing good speed and height in the tricky conditions.

'We focused on getting a clean start towards the boat end. The boats set up was really good and we had plenty of speed and height which allowed us to be the first boat to get to the right hand shift and get our lead,' Matt explained.

Matt and his team are geared up with the same North Sails inventory that Tom King used to win the Sydney worlds at the beginning of the year and following this success Graham Taylor 'GT' is working closely with the North Sails Team gearing up with a full inventory of sails for their 2012/2013 season.

North Sails 1,2,3 at the RPAYC Optimist Spring Series: RPAYC hosted the Spring Series on the weekend where a fleet of 30 Optimists did battle on Pittwater. Nic Anderson with his new CZero5 main sailed really well in the tricky conditions to win the regatta and Otto Henry who has been training hard through the winter continues to show great consistency and finished second overall. Tom Green showed massive improvement in his boat positioning skills and was able to clinch third place overall, his best result so far at a major regatta.

Farr 40 Queensland Championships: In the inaugural 2012 Farr 40 Queensland Championship, former world champion Guido Belgiorno-Nettis and his crew of Transfusion blasted through another day of strong winds on Brisbane’s Moreton Bay to take the victory. Lang Walkers Kokomo with dual gold medallist Malcolm Page doing tactics and Richard Allanson on board from North Sails sailed well to finish second overall despite Malcolm suffering a bad injury after getting caught up in the main sheet during a gybe. Martin Hill’s estate master finished Third and all boats competing were geared up with both a mixture of 3DL and 3DI CSD North sails.

Melges 24’s: The Melges 24’s and 32’s are all set for a big season with the East Coast Championships set to be held next weekend our of RPAYC.

Plenty of boats including Damian Huon’s 'Huey 2' and David Bull’s 'Jester 4' have been training hard over the winter off season and have geared up with all the latest North Sails models in order to get the best performance out of the boats and keep Kevin Nixon’s ' Accru' and Warwick Rooklyn’s Bandit on their toes and sailing fast.
