The new marina at Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron in St Kilda continues to enjoy strong demand. With tenders about to be awarded for both the breakwater extensions and the marina itself, interest in pens, particularly the 20 year long term leases, is high. Of the 128 leases originally available, 104 have been taken up, with several more close to signing. Only one of the 10 metre pens offered is left, and there are only a handful of pens still available in each of the remaining sizes. The breakdown is as follows: 10 metre pens 1 available 12 metre pens 11 available 15 metre pens 8 available 18 metre pens 3 available 20 metre pens 2 available. RMYS General Manager, Rod Austin, is confident the long term leases will be fully subscribed in the near future. 'We had a cocktail party and marina update function at the Squadron last week, with over 130 people attending. The level of interest for the leases was really great, and there was also some deposits taken for the short term rental pens. Boat owners didn’t want to miss out on what we believe will be the best marina facility on Port Phillip', he said. For further information about the marina development contact Rod Austin at RMYS on (03) 9534 0227, or email him at manager(at)mys.com.au.
