Two days of racing followed by a big night on the rums, it's that time of year again for the Pied Piper teams. This weekend Bucklands Beach Yacht Club (BBYC) is hosting the North Sails 2010 Pied Piper National Championships.
The racing schedule sees up to five races held on Saturday, with a total of eight races scheduled for the weekend. The windward-leeward style courses will be held in the area to the west of Browns Island, with good land-based viewing from Archilles Point.
With around 15 entries expected, the form guide suggests Team Yosemite Sam will be the team to watch. Skippered by Ben Lowe, sailed by a consistent crew and with the last two national championships under their belt, they will be the team to beat. Their competition will most likely come from Motamouse, powered by a new 3DL from Norths and Party Piedy, with a new look crew.
Registrations will remain open until the briefing at 7:30pm on Thursday evening at BBYC. Prizegiving will also be held at BBYC on Sunday night and is always a much anticipated event.
