New leadership at the Boating Industry Association Victoria

The Boating Industry Association of Victoria is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Gill as BIA’s new Chief Executive Officer. Following an extensive search, I am delighted to announce that Steven has taken up the position of CEO .' BIA Chairman Andy Warner said. Mr Gill has 20 years experience working with membership based associations, the majority of this in marine related industries. This includes 6 years as the Executive Director of the West Australian Lobster Industry’s peak body, the Western Rock Lobster Council. Five years experience as a board member of the West Australian Recreational Fishing Peak Body, Recfish West. Other experience includes Director of Media and Government Relations with the Housing Industry Association in WA and China Project Manager for the Australian Seafood Cooperative Research Centre. Steven believes professional representation of the Victorian boating community and industry is critical to long term growth of this sectors significant contribution to the Victorian economy. 'I am very excited to have joined BIA Victoria at this critical time in the industry’s development and I am looking forward to building on the organisations long and proud history. There are many exciting initiatives that the BIA is working on with Industry and Government. A great example is the Melbourne Summer Boat show at the Docklands from the 1-3 Feb 2013. ' said Mr Gill 'I am looking forward to working with the BIA’s membership and the Government towards increasing participation in boating. I believe the organisation needs to work with Government to assist the Victorian boating community increase access and enjoyment of the many and varied waterways and coastal environments we have to offer.' concluded Mr Gill.
