Marten Yachts has announced the sale of two Marten 49s, further fueling its position as one of the premier yacht brands in the world. Testament to the core strength of the brand, the Australian owned company has exceeded sales targets, contracting five Marten 49s and a Marten 67 so far this year.
Marten 49 hull 15 is bound for Europe while hull 14, due for delivery in early 2009, will signify the brand’s debut in Queensland. A popular cruising destination, the sunshine state plays host to several international events in which the Marten range participates, although no Queenslander could lay claim to owning the prestigious brand until now.
The new Brisbane based owner, a member of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, was initially drawn to the sleek lines of the stylish Marten 49 prior to discovering the unique benefits of the performance cruiser.
'The Marten 49 is not only a great looking yacht, but her impressive features allow for greater flexibility and maneuverability, ensuring optimal performance and adding to the overall enjoyment of sailing,' he explains.
Marten Yachts Brand Manager Jason Rowed views Queensland as an exciting market for the brand: 'Marten’s innovative hydraulic lifting keel suits Queensland’s shallow waterways. We are also seeing more clubs that have imposing draft restrictions in respect to marina berths, something that can easily overcome with the Marten’s lifting keel,' he adds.
Following the interest sparked as a result of displaying at the 2008 Sydney International Boat Show, Marten Yachts plans to showcase the latest of its premium carbon fibre yachts at the 2009 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show next year.
Designed and built to perform, Marten Yachts are luxuriously appointed and exhilarating to sail, often exceeding in their class. Johnny Vincent’s Marten 49 Pace recently competed in the highly regarded Les Voiles Saint Tropez Regatta.
Attracting some of the most well known yachts in the world, Pace finished fifth in IRC Group A, behind David George’s (Reichel Pugh Maxi) Rambler, Adam Bateman’s (J Class) Velsheda, Niklas Zennstrom’s (TP52) Ran and Charles Dunston’s (Transpac 52) Rio, all vying for placments against an experienced fleet of 34 in her class.

Mirroring international acclaim, New Zealand based Marten 49 Carrera produced consistent results in Australia’s prominent Audi Hamilton Island Race Week.
While most yacht builders are slowing production in light of current economic conditions, Marten Yachts is seemingly oblivious to the trend.
