Bay of Islands Sailing Week January 18-21, 2011 Add www.bayofislandssailingweek.org.nz to your favourites. NOR will be available on the appropriate web page by the end of August – enter on-line – or continue to use the mailing option. Andrew Turner has the website running like a well oiled clock. • Again a Refund (Prize) for entry number??? – wouldn’t it be nice?…. • Ray and Andrew are working on a few changes in race procedures to improve management on the water, with new equipment to keep us up to speed • A new Beer Sponsor has taken the helm – Steinlager Pure, a quality product to test the taste buds at the end of each day’s racing • With the now twelve divisions available – (we started in 2003 with 4 divisions) along with the Flying Fifteen’s, Elliott 5.9’s and IRC Nationals – and now the 18 and 12 foot Skiffs, the Bay will be a mass of sails. This is a Yachting Regatta that just keeps on growing • Wharf Sheds are painted. The Train Line still runs through the middle of the North Sails Tent …but trains are re-routed during the Bay Regatta – we are ready • Thursday will be the 'CRC Beach Party on the Wharf' - Free tasty appetisers for one hour, live music. A great menu will be available from Waikokopu after appetizers are all gone. And more music for Prize Giving Friday night…. It’s play-time again • Racing equivalent of the 'Tour De France Jacket' – Sponsored by Westpac for the Young 88’s Division. This is how it will work: The Westpac brand will fly high on a new North’s racing spinnaker; the spinnaker will be presented to the leading boat end of Day 1 to be flown on Day 2. The overnight leader after Day 2 will fly the kite on Day 3. The overall Young 88 winner will be presented with the spinnaker at Prize-Giving. This could be a new trend – it will be so good to see who runs with the 'Westpac Spinnaker' each day during the regatta. Great idea Westpac • Prize for *BEST DRESSED BOAT* – DD GOLD (clothing and sport apparel) in Kerikeri has all the logos and styles, with very competitive prices.
