A chance meeting at the recent Dubai International Boat Show has resulted in one of Central Asia’s most respected companies being appointed the region’s first dealership for Australia’s renowned manufacturer, Maritimo.

The company involved is Jebsen and Co Limited, established in Hong Kong in 1895 and now widely recognised as a force in general trading with a presence in China, Macau, Taiwan and South Korea as well as Hong Kong.

Luke Durman, Maritimo marketing director was at the Dubai show representing his company and met up with Olivier Decamps, now general manager of Jebsen and Co’s Marine Division.

Decamps was impressed with the Maritimo range on display and made visited Australia, inspected the company’s manufacturing facilities at Coomera and Hope Island and attended the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.

He confirmed the arrangement by placing an order for a Maritimo 48.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that I have chosen the right breed of boat for our market,” he said.

“I’m very confident Maritimo will attract strong interest from Asian buyers and although we are negotiating with other manufacturers to represent them, Maritimo will be the only flybridge-style cruiser on our books.”

Durman said he was delighted to see Jebsen and Co ‘come aboard.’

“This is a company established by the Jebsen and Jessen families more than 115-years ago.

“Since 1955 it has been the region’s dealer for Porsche and now boasts one of the highest market shares the Porsche name achieves in the world.

“In addition to its automobile involvement the company operates other divisions as diverse as beverages, home entertainment, fine wines, watches and photography.

“It represents the manufacturers of extremely high class products and that suits Maritimo to a tee,” Durman added.

Initially, the Marine Division headed by Olivier Decamp will focus on Hong Kong and Shanghai.
