The Int 14 websites reports: After a frustrating first day on Thursday when gale force winds kept the fleet ashore the 14 fleet hoped that Friday would bring better conditions for the PoW race, the one race winner takes all nationals, which is being held at Hayling Island Sailing Club. However Friday saw a steady 28 knots in Hayling Bay and gusts well into the 30s, so at the briefing race officer Ossie Stewart postponed the PoW to Saturday and announced his intention to hold a race inside the harbour on the top of the afternoon tide if possible. However by 4.00pm and the top of the tide the wind hadn’t died and with a building sea making even getting to the course difficult the racing was cancelled.

The historic event was sailed on Saturday, two days late.

The wind started at 15 knots increased to 20knots with an awkward sea state, rersulting in only 16 of the 37 starters finishing the event.

Final finishing was 1: Roger Gilbert and Ben McGrane; 2: Archie Massey and Damian Ash; 3: Mark Upton-Brown and Matt Gotrel. For Gilbert and McGrane it was their second win in the prestigious trophy.
