Huge Andrew Short Marine range at Sydney Boat Show |
Andrew Short Marine will have a massive range of power boats on show at the Sydney International Boat Show (2nd-7th August). There will be more than sixty boats including the latest offerings from Boston Whaler, Stacer, Quicksilver and the very popular Sea Rays. Andrew Short Marine is the only Stacer dealer in Sydney and they will have ‘ready to go’ packages available at the show, and also staff to assist with finance and insurance requirements. The packages include boat, motor and trailer: so you can buy a boat, tow it home, shrug and say ‘but honey, it was such a good price!’ Sea Ray is the world's largest manufacturer of superior quality pleasure boats, producing more than 15,000 boats a year from 45 models ranging from 18 to 60 feet. Last year Andrew Short won the coveted international Sea Ray dealer award for the third year in a row. He’s bringing 27 Sea Rays to the Sydney Boat Show and these will range from a 175 Sport up to the 60 Sundancer. The American built Sea Rays have been selling extremely well in this country partly due to the strength of the Aussie dollar against the US dollar. High profile racing identities Matt Allen and Rod Skellet own Sea Rays. Allen has a 52 Sundancer and Skellet gets about in a 36. Andrew Short says the popularity of the Sea Rays is attributable to their luxurious interiors, quality build and their comfortable ride. ‘Compared to other boats from overseas, Americans are big people, so their boats are very roomy. They’ve got nice wide doorways; they’ve got plenty of headroom. They’re very spacious. There are not a lot of little pokey cabins. ‘They’re traditionally wide boats which make them stable so they don’t rock around too much… With all the curves they’ve got in them they’re just sexy looking boats.’

He says that the secret to Sea Ray’s success is that the boats appeal to the whole family. ‘The sort of sailing people I mainly mix with are racing people. And racing yachts are all right for them and their mates. . But the powerboats are good too for a different reason. The power boats we sell are more suited to family type boating- They have got the creature comforts for the wife and kids and you don’t need a big team of crew to get out on the water’ ‘So that’s how that works. They can still get out on the water and make the rest of their family happy.’ The Sea Ray stand will be in Hall 3, Stand 301. As well as the big, beautiful Sea Rays Andrew Short Marine will have over 20 Stacers to choose from. The Australian built aluminum Stacers have established a solid reputation for strength, minimal maintenance and dependability. Stacer build a range of family friendly fishing boats with a large number of fixtures and fittings included in their standard package. Accessories which come as standard in most of the larger models include navigation lights, auto float bilge pump, battery box with isolator switch and a 4 gang switch panel. Hydraulic steering is a standard feature on the 5.65m and 6.05m models, while seat sliders feature across almost the entire large boat range.
Many of the Stacers have a large under floor fuel tank which means less waiting around at the dock and more time having fun on the water. They’re economical to run and their wide beams and enhanced stability make them easy and safe to operate. Alongside the Stacers in Hall 3, stand 300 will be 18 inflatable Quicksilvers. Andrew Short Marine stocks a wide range of Quicksilver vessels from the compact, lightweight Quicksilver 200 Roll-up to the heavy duty 430. The lightweight inflatables are perfect as tenders or for short trips where planing and speed are not priorities. At the other end of the spectrum the Quicksilver 430 heavy duty inflatable is a serious boat designed for scuba divers and rescue teams. The boat features a low freeboard which makes it easy to roll off and reboard. They’re constructed from reinforced 1100 Duratex fabric and aluminum framed floorboards.
Andrew Short Marine is a one stop shop for all boating needs including accessories and service. Their huge undercover premises at Taren Point in Sydney houses more than 120 boats. And there’s additional on water space in Yowie Bay at the new marina at Ferguson’s Boatshed Marina, The Spit, Mosman. The business offers ‘cradle to grave’ services for anything nautical. They provide servicing, spare parts, organise finance and handle second hand sales as well as trade ins.
