Haines Hunter has unveiled its revolutionary new game fishing boat, the 760 Patriot, at its new Derrimut factory in Melbourne.

Hailed as “the only one of its type in Australia,” the new boat is “the largest legally trailerable mini-game boat in the country”, according to National Sales and Marketing Manager, Glen Davidson.

As he describes: “The beam is 2.5m and the boat itself is 7.6m. This is the result of 18 months of R&D, and it’s completely different, using brand new top and bottom moulds.”

Retailing from a starting price of $155,000 for base model, motor and trailer, the 760 Patriot is Haines Hunter’s foray into a new market.

“We are aiming for serious game fisherman, those who have been trailerable and are moving up and the game fisherman downsizing,” says Davidson, adding that the boat is the ideal family fishing boat and purpose-built blue water craft.

“It has a huge freeboard, deep cockpit, walkaround decks, it sleeps four adults and one child in a huge cabin, there’s a massive fishing cockpit area and 100L fresh water tank onboard. In addition, we offer a seven year structural warranty – the list goes on.”

The boat is available as twin stern drive, twin outboard application or single outboard application and comes with a 500L fuel tank standard. Both outboard and stern drive versions will be on display at the Melbourne Boat Show, starting 4 July.

Davidson says at this end of the market, consumers are not bothered about fuel prices. “People who buy at this end are committed to their boating and will still go out despite the cost of fuel.”

The new factory will employ about 60 workers, some of whom transferred from the Queensland factory. Haines Hunter will still maintain a presence in Southern Queensland. Glen Davidson heads up sales and marketing from Runaway Bay.
