Since its creation in 1973, the Grand Pavois Show has dedicated itself to achieving its ambition: to become the benchmark boat show for the entire nautical industry. Last year, Grand Pavois celebrated its 40th show and gave its enthusiasts the place of honour. In 2013, Grand Pavois is looking to the future and showing off its dynamism - and it wants the whole nautical community to benefit from this! The Grand Pavois show brings the entire nautical industry together and offers, in a single place, the chance for the enthusiastic visitor to find the answer to all his questions. Representative of the French, the European and the worldwide nautical industry, all the players in this market sector are present every year, and the numerous themed spaces, targetting visitors’ interests, offer a unique opportunity to examine, try and buy - all in the same place. The visitor profile is varied: this show atttracts young people with The Beach (Watersports Village and light sailing) ; lovers of thrills with sport boats ; long-distance sailors with big cruisers, either single- or multiple-hulled ; traditionalists, with their boats from Wood Village ; fishermen with their sea-fishing trips or their semi-rigid inflatables ; adventure-lovers ; people who enjoy coastal cruising in shallow waters; and many others besides. Figures, which speak for themselves: • Two out of three visitors to the Boat Show say they go boating • 43% have their own boats, and 28% come to the Boat Show to change them • Visitors come from 75 French departements, and eighteen different countries • Having over 200 previews and new models on show forms the main attraction for 50% of visitors • So far as buyers are concerned, 47% come to buy a boat, 44% for equipment and chandlery • 88% of exhibitors say that the contacts they make help them to conclude their deals quickly • 60% of exhibitors meet their sales targets, and 80% want to come back again in 2013 The best feature of the enthusiasts’ Atlantic boat show is that Grand Pavois suggests that the boats are tried out at sea. It’s a unique trump card for the autumn on-the-water boat show, allowing all the new models and previews presented at the show to be tried out, under almost personalised conditions. Apart from the boats shown on the Trial pontoons, available from 10am – 7pm, it is possible to try the boats on display out in the floating harbour from 6pm onwards, thanks to the opening of the pontoons. A unique opportunity for enthusiastic visitors in search of the boat of their dreams ! At every Grand Pavois boat show, in the Event dock, the men, women and boats with exceptional tales are highlighted. In this way, Grand Pavois allows the emotions, the joys and the experiences to be shared, according to each speakers adventure. Following Corentin de Chatelperron, Alessandro di Benedetto, Roland Jourdain and his MOD 70, Anne Quéméré, the speakers in 2012 were Jean-Louis Clémendot, Stéphane Narvaez and the Qovop team. Three stories from sailors who have, perhaps, given visitors the desire to try it for themselves! In 2013, new personalities will be telling their stories. Watch this space . . . The Grand Pavois is the main economic attraction in the Poitou-Charentes region. For forty years, every September, Grand Pavois takes a bearing on the nautical industry and forms a true point of exchange between industry players and lovers of pleasure boating, blessed by the presence of its 42 ports. Over the years, the boat show has become an essential partner of the Poitou-Charentes region, the Charente-Maritime region, the town of La Rochelle and its District Council. In 2011, almost 25 million euros of spending in the local economy, over just a few days, was generated by the boat show, and from turnover generated in the boatyards. (Independent Study by the La Rochelle Chamber of Commerce and Industry). Bear in mind that 2013 will also bring the 1200 new moorings of the marina at Les Minimes de La Rochelle into service, making it the biggest pleasure boating port in Europe. What you have to remember . . . Name: Le Grand Pavois Place: Port des Minimes à La Rochelle Dates: from Wednesday 25 until Monday 30 September 2013, from 10am – 7pm Area: 100 000 m2 Exhibitors: 850 exhibitors from 35 countries Boats on show: more than 700 boats on show, including 300 afloat Number of visitors: more than 100,000 visitors
