Competitors in the first of the Simrad Shorthanded Series, looked to be in for a long slow day as winds deserted the 50nm race course. The forecast from PredictWind!www.predictwind.com was for winds to gust to three maybe four knots at Bean Rock around 1800hrs tonight, otherwise there would be light winds - mostly an onshore breeze for the whole of Saturday and through until mid Sunday morning when winds were expected to build to 15-20 knots at Bean Rock. The first division got away on time, at 0900hrs, and reached across the mouth of the Waitemata harbour, only to park at North Head. Four hours later the bulk of the fleet was still off Takapuna Beach and there had been several withdrawals. The first yachts finished mid evening and full results can be viewed by clicking here
