British Marine Federation launches National On The Water Weekend

The British Marine Federation (BMF) launched the On The Water Weekend on Thursday 17 January at the 2013 Tullett Prebon London Boat Show. Taking place from 27 – 28 April 2013 the weekend of events looks to deliver a programme full of boating and watersport activities and events across the country. Following on from an event-filled 2012, with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the On The Water Weekend aims to engage with people of all ages and backgrounds wanting to get out on the water. The weekend will be filled with opportunities to try canoeing or sailing, find out about training and boating holidays or what’s available on your doorstep, there will be so much to see and do throughout the weekend. Sarah Dhanda, BMF Senior Federation Director said: 'The BMF will be working closely with its members and the wider leisure marine industry to deliver an event full of opportunities. Over 3million* UK adults participate in on-water activities and this event has been launched to encourage more to join them and get on the water. 'This will be the perfect chance for people to get into boating and watersports and back out on the water, whatever their aspirations.'
