Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, the Official 2012 sailing venue, marked the official Beijing to London hand over with the unveiling of a new 2012 flag, given to the Academy by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.
This flag can be only be flown at selected 2012 venues. Sunday was the first time that anyone had viewed the flag which incorporates the Union Jack within it.
The flag was hoisted by Mark Stubbings, Chief Executive of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) with local Weymouth and Portland children. The flag ceremony also marked the outstanding achievement of the Skandia Team GBR in Qingdao, pulling in a record 4 gold, 1 sliver and 1 bronze.
The sailing heroes are a key ingredient to helping the whole GBR Olympic team achieve the best medal haul for 100 years. A number of the sailing medalists live in the Weymouth and Portland region and provide a real inspiration for the community.

The Academy are now looking forward to viewing the Paralympic events where Weymouth locals Helena Lucas sponsored by Charles Russell and Alex Rickham will be competing.
