The organisers of the 2013 Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference (ASMEX) have received nothing short of praise for their extensive programme which ticks all the boxes in regards to identifying opportunities and solutions within the Australian marine export and superyacht sectors.

The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia have attracted reputable international and national speakers to discuss highly topical issues including the global economy, doing business in Asia and the UAE, Tourism Australia and their strategy, working more closely with our neighbours, marketing and what really works and the European market and the opportunities there.

A large focus for many participants is identifying opportunities to grow business and understand the opportunities in new and emerging markets and the status of established markets. IBI editor Ed Slack will be providing a comprehensive overview of the European marine sector. Slack will deliberate on France, Italy, Germany, Greece and Spain by highlighting what the future holds for these established markets. Slack’s priceless industry experience is also allowing him to touch on opportunities in the less identified east European sector.

The massive waterside developments in both Dubai and the surrounding region are generating increased demand for leisure boats, equipment and associated services. To better understand the opportunities in this region the COO of Gulf Craft Erwin Bamps will be providing an update on the current environment within this market.

Realising the significance of our neighbouring region, Asia, the conference programme will cover the opportunities and challenges with doing business in this region. Founder and CEO of Horizon Yachts, John Lu, will discuss this market and the probability of Asia becoming the global manufacturing hub while also looking at how Australian businesses and our equipment manufacturers can be ready and make the most of business opportunities in this region.

Also of great interest will be the findings from an extensive industry research project which Lecturer and Researcher, Helen Cripps will cover, addressing how the industry has responded to the ongoing threat of the GFC, the high Australian dollar, the high wages and the trends and strategies that developed countries have used to counter emerging economies including insights from interviews in Europe.

The programme will also include an overview of the current global economy and outlook, the Tourism Australia strategy and how the superyacht and tourism sectors are working together. As well as the Asia Pacific region, how we’re working together and what more can be done to increase superyacht visitation. Delegates will also hear firsthand about the highs and lows of being the Skipper of Wild Oats X1 in addition to a discussion regarding how Australia will reap the benefits of the successes the Australian sailing team had in 2012.

Another key area of interest will be the address from the Hon Bob Baldwin MP regarding the opposition’s policy for the marine industry. Conference delegates will also hear from renowned yacht designer Sam Sorgiovanni and NZ Marine Executive Director Peter Busfield who will speak about how Australia and New Zealand can work more closely together. A panel discussion between key industry media has also been arranged to decipher what marketing avenues really work in today’s climate.

The ASMEX Conference is organised by AIMEX & Superyacht Australia for those within the industry who are focused on marine export and the superyacht sector. ASMEX will provide firsthand information which will motivate and deliver information and tools to return to business with.

The ASMEX Conference attracts a high level of industry and government support including platinum partners Pantaenius Yacht Insurance and supporting sponsors Tourism Australia, the Gold Coast City Council and Business Gold Coast, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and Aqualuma LED Lighting, Muirs and Sevenstar Yacht Transport, Events Clothing and media partners Ocean Media and Superyacht Business.

ASMEX is the key Australian marine industry conference for those focussed on marine export, the superyacht sector and those wanting to understand where the real opportunities lie for their business in the future. The ASMEX registration fee once again reflects the desire of AIMEX to ensure every business has the opportunity to attend.

This is a conference run by the industry for the industry. At $395 (inc GST) for non-members and $285 for AIMEX & Superyacht Australia members this is unbelievable value.
