1,2,3 Knock-Out for McConaghy at 2009 Rolex Sydney Hobart
|
Alfa Romeo's Neville Crichton win's McConaghy Cup Like a blockbuster movie with all the great actors and directors, the three McConaghy built Supermaxis, the 'winningest' Supermaxi's the world has ever seen, have completed the 1, 2, 3 knockout punch in the 2009 Rolex Sydney Hobart. Alfa Romeo, Wild Oats XI and ICAP Leopard arrived in that order. 'The whole McConaghy team is delighted for our three clients. It was certainly interesting as the wind changed the equation several times over. I would have liked to have given the McConaghy Cup for line honours to Neville, Bob and Mike but today is Neville and Alfa crews day', said McConaghy Co-owner, Mark Evans.
Alfa Romeo came out on top with a deserving win while Wild Oats XI showed just how competitive they are keeping the pressure on while ICAP Leopard showed that they can still perform well in conditions not totally suited to them. Everyone will now await the calculations to see who will get the second of the McConaghy Cups, which will be awarded based on handicap.
